3 holdapers who offered lifts in Delhi and NCR to people for free before robbing them have been arrested
3 holdapers have been arrested for robbing people after offering them lifts in a car that they did not own, the police said the 3 men rented the car out from online car rental services.
The three holdapers have been identified as 29-year-old Monti Kumar, 28-year-old Rahul, and 39-year-old Mahender.
Monti and Rahul are from Ghaziabad and Mahender is from Noida.
An official statement that was released by the police said, “On May 22, Nawab Khan, a resident of Zakir Nagar, Okhla, lodged a complaint that he was coming from his village Khatauli in Uttar Pradesh. He reached Anand Vihar in the city and was waiting for a bus for Zakir Nagar.”
The statement added, “Khan said a cab stopped in front of him and four persons were sitting inside the car. They offered him a lift and he got inside the vehicle.”
When they reached an isolated area, the 2 men started to rob him, he had Rs. 14,500 with him at that time and some important documents.
Nawab Khan added that one of the men threatened him with a scissors.
After robbing him, the men left the area.
A complaint was lodged by Nawab Khan at the Patparganj Industrial Area Police Station.
The police arrested the accused men in the Patparganj area after receiving a tip-off about them.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the 3 men rented the car from Mayanak Kumar through a car rental website, they were paying him on a monthly basis.
The car of Mayanak Kumar was used in robbing passengers in the NCR and Delhi areas.
Monti Kumar and Rahul also have cases registered against them in the Ambedkar Nagar Police Station and the Kashmere Gate Police Station.
The police have assembled a team which will be in charge of arresting 39-year-old Mahender, who is currently on the run.
