3 girls were found inside the home of Tamil-Telegu Actress Bhanupriya in Chennai. A mother reported the incident to the police in Samalkot Andhra Pradesh, Childline officials went to the actress’s home in T.Nagar, and in the complaint, the mother said that her daughter was held inside the home of the actress and was not getting paid and was not allowed to meet her own daughter.
Achyutha Rao the Child right activists wrote a letter to the (NCPCR) National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and also the state commission. According to some reports, the NCPCR ordered the said raid. The NCPCR also ordered an immediate arrest of Bhanupriya for violating the Child Labour Act.
After the raid was done, a report said that Bhanupriya had 4 girls that were minors inside her home, the case is now being investigated and officials are suspecting the case as a trafficking racket, the girls said that they were also sexually abused.
Achyutha Rao said: “Both the actress and the mother have violated child rights. But if more girls have been brought by the same middleman to Chennai from AP, there is a strong reason to suspect trafficking.”
The police say that the mother who complained about the incident claimed her daughter is 15-years-old, but the actress said that she was told by the family that the girl was 18-years-old.
The actress said that the girl was stealing expensive gadgets and pieces of jewelry from her and was giving them to the mother. Bhanupriya has filed a case against the girl’s mother.
The actress also added that she asked the mother to bring all the stolen items, but the mother only brought back the camera, iPad, and a watch. She promised to bring back the other stolen items.
Actress Bhanupriya said: “And now she has lodged this false complaint against me in Andhra Pradesh.”
The mother said that the actress brought her minor daughter to Chennai, she employed her as a helper and said that she will be paid Rs. 10,000 per month.
The mother of the minor said that for the past 18 months her daughter has not been paid and was not allowed to meet her.
The mother said: “A few days ago, my daughter had called from someone’s mobile phone and told me that she was being physically and sexually abused. I went to Chennai to meet her on January 18, but I was not allowed.”
The police filed a case against the brother of the actress, the investigation is currently undergoing.
