66th Republic Day Chief Guest 2015 – BARACK OBAMA: Delhi Republic Day parade refers to the grand parade on Rajpath, New Delhi, held on 26 January every year. It is the main attraction of India’s Republic Day Celebrations, which extends for 3 days. The parade showcases India’s Defense Capability, Cultural and Social Heritage. This year we are going have a special guest for this Republic day Parade.
What’s Special on this Republic Day
As per the media, Women armed forces of India would take part for the first time in the Republic day Parade of this year, 2015. The order came from the top authorities as our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi keen to Women Empowerment and Nari Shakti. Women Empowerment and Nari Shakti would be the main theme of this year Parade.
It is confirmed that, US President, Barack Obama would be the chief guest on this year, 2015 Republic Day celebration of India on 26th of January in New Delhi.
It has also been confirmed that US President, Barack Obama would visit the Taj Mahal (a world class Indian heritage) during his visit to India on Republic Day 2015. The date of Taj Mahal visit has been scheduled on a day later to the Republic Day means 27th of January.
Narendra Modi Invited Barack Obama as Chief Guest:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he had invited Obama. He tweeted: “This Republic Day, we hope to have a friend over… invited President Obama to be the 1st US President to grace the occasion as Chief Guest.”
Obama’s acceptance on PM Modi’s invite is seen as an effort by the United States to forge new global partnership with India.In response, the US National Security Council tweeted “President Obama will travel to India in Jan 2015 to participate in Indian Republic Day celebration as Chief Guest. President Obama will meet w/@narendramodi and Indian officials to strengthen and expand the U.S.-#India strategic partnership. Visit will mark 1st time US president will have honor of attending Republic Day, which commemorates adoption of India’s constitution #India.”
Obama last visited India in November 2010 when he had come to Mumbai and New Delhi on a State visit. The choice of the US President is indicative of the push which the Modi government wants to give to India-US relationship at the beginning of his five-year term.
