AI Related Job Search Ranks Top For Indian Professionals

New Delhi: There seems to be a great surge in the number of searches by Indian job seekers for artificial intelligence (AI) related segments especially for the profile ‘data scientist’ which ranks the top in all, a report said.

As per the data availed from the global job site Indeed, there is an increase of 179 percent in the total number of searchers by job seekers for Artificial Intelligence jobs in India between the period of June 2016 and June 2018.

As there is an increase in companies getting involved to integrate new technology into their core functions, this, in turn, is creating new openings for skilled professionals spurring AI-related jobs on the increase.

“While firms across industries are adopting a technology-forward approach, it is crucial that we also prepare the workforce by reskilling and upskilling talent in the requisite capabilities,” said Venkata Machavarapu, Head of Engineering, India and Site Director at Indeed India.

“Our focus needs to be not only on finding talent with the right skills but also on equipping existing employees with the required skills to work with AI-powered solutions,” Machavarapu added.

As per the report, the ratio between job openings and job seekers appears to be greater by at least 2.2 times for AI skills and this, in turn, indicates the need for skill development in the larger science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) sector and the technology sector in particular.

Besides the large technology industry, the automotive sector to plays a big role in the AI applications in India. Here companies are increasingly looking at getting a leverage out of AI for data management, analytics, and programming.

The report also said that according to BCG study, India is ranked third only after USA and China in terms of AI implementation in the automotive sector and this, in turn, indicates the scope of work that is yet to be tapped in the sector going forward.

Past year saw Data scientist profile as the most searched AI-related jobs and after that came the rank of software engineer and machine learning engineer in the second and third place, respectively.

India is a major player in terms of the software product which has got major IT hubs like Bengaluru and Hyderabad cities. So, the current trend of AI technology seems to pick steam as the top job in this area. Time is not far away when India will again prove that it’s the most preferred IT products exporter specifically for Artificial technology.
