Ambedkar’s Great Grandson Sujat Shocking Comments On Reservation!!

Recently on March 26th, thousands of Dalits marched to Mumbai’s Azad Maidan and demanded the arrest of Sambhaji Bhide, the right-wing Hindutva leader who is accused as the reason behind violence in the Dalit event at Bhima Koregaon. During this rally, everyone’s eyes were on this youngster who is none other than Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s great-grandson, Sujat Ambedkar.

The people who were present at the event said that two things created a huge reaction among the crowd, one was his speech and the second was his long curly hair.

For Sujat, this huge appreciation created a new door for his entry into the politics and to work with his father, Prakash Ambedkar, president of the party Bharipa Bahujan Maha Sangh. Sujat holds a political science degree from Fergusson college and another degree from Asian College of Journalism.

Sujat was a part of a Rockband during his college days. He views on the reservation system is quite unique.

“I don’t think there is a need for political reservation. In jobs and education, reservation should be continued although people who have achieved a certain economic condition should voluntarily give a chance to those in the community, who are still at the bottom of the pyramid,” says Sujat.

Sujat viewpoint is a bit alike like his father who said in an interview that time has come for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) to quit from electoral politics. Talking about opting for reservation he said he was privileged and never opted for reservation and studied in an open category.

“I consider myself most privileged since I got everything from the beginning,” he said.

He is planning to launch a website of his own which shows the atrocities against Dalits and also wants to highlight the day-to-day issues faced by the marginalised community.
