4-Year-Old Boy Attacked By 15-Foot Python Which Bit His Leg And Tried To Drag Him From His House Twice

A 4-year-old boy was attacked by a 15 ft scrub python that tried to drag him away in his background two times before he was saved.

Clifford Thompson, the 4-year-old boy, was rushed to a hospital with snake bite wounds.

The incident happened last week.

Evan, his dad, moved into their new house at Airlie Beach in North Queensland earlier this year.

The incident happened when Evan was hosting a housewarming party in their house.

Evan said a number of families were over their house during the housewarming party and there were about 6 kids in the pool.

Evan was keeping an eye on the kids when he suddenly heard a scream behind him.

When Evan turned around, he saw a massive python latched onto the leg of his son.

Clifford was holding onto a railing as the snake was trying to drag him away.

Evan believes, “If I wasn’t there this snake would have killed him.”

Evan said he rushed over and instinctively punched the snake in the head with hopes of scaring the snake away.

Evan added, “Within a split second it bit him again so I grabbed it by the throat and pried its jaws open – I managed to break its jaw.”

The snake tried to go after his son and even grabbed the son again.

Evan ended up grabbing the snake by the tail and yelled for someone to get a weapon.

Evan said, “My mate and my wife went to the toolshed and found a sledgehammer and my mate hit it’. If it had let go of my son when I first punched it I might have let it go but it was so aggressive I couldn’t go to work with this thing crawling around my house.”

Evan added, “I’ve dealt with snakes before but nothing like this it would have been 15 foot. I have a three-year-old daughter as well, we’re just glad it didn’t grab her.”

The attack happened for 5 minutes.

Evan said his son’s leg had a large tear and smaller marks where the snake bit him.

Initially, Evan placed a compression bandage on the wounds of Clifford and called the authorities.

Emergency responder rushed him to the Proserpine Hospital, and was later referred to Mackay.

Clifford also underwent surgery on the morning of Friday so his snake wounds can be cleaned up.

Clifford is now on antibiotics and is recovering from the injuries he sustained from the incident.
