Assam, India: A 6-year-old boy from Maligaon area of Guwahati was mauled to death by a leopard, confirmed the police and locals.
The news was shared on Saturday.
The 6-year-old boy, who has been identified as Shivam Kumar, was grabbed by the neck when he was playing with his friends outside his house.
The incident happened in Adingiri, which is located in the Maligaon area on August 21, 2020.
The leopard let the boy go when locals came to rescue, however, the leopard disappeared in the hills after the people chased him.
Kumar was rushed to a hospital in the area, however, he was declared as dead upon arrival.
Forest officials refused to talk about the incident with the media or people that contacted them about the incident.
Maligaon, headquarters of the North East Frontier Railways and a place prone to human-leopard conflicts, has a number of big hills and 7 forest areas.
This is not the first time this year where people have been injured in the area.
But humans are not the only victims.
In a number of events, wild animals including leopards, tigers, and lions have been killed by mobs and people because of man and animal conflict.
