Rescuing a dog from the top of a tree is something you think only happens in movies or cartoons, but unfortunately, it does happen in real life.
A Facebook post that was made by the Lathrop Fire District in California went viral after it showed a dog stuck at the top of a tree after chasing a cat.
Fire officials said the dog, a German Shepherd, chased a cat up a tall tree and had a hard time getting down.
Sharon Thurston, the owner of the pooch, was walking her 2-year-old German Shepherd in a park in Sacramento on Saturday when she let go of her leas for a second.
Instead of running around a normal dog, the dog ended up chasing a cat.
When Thurston caught up with Baby, the dog, the pooch was already at the top of a tree on a precarious branch.
Thurston tried to climb up the tree but failed.
Left with no other choice, Thurston ended up calling the emergency number for help.
Larry Madoski took the call of Thurston and said, “I took a chuckle and thought, “Well this is a first.”
Larry added, “I immediately placed a phone call to find out if somebody was kidding with me.”
Firefighters went down to the park and realized that the call was real.
The firefighters managed to rescue the dog from the tree.
Thurston said Baby is now with her, safe and sound.
Meanwhile, the cat managed to get down the tree.
