Dog That Was Found Starving, Sick, And Scared Becomes Police Sniffer Dog After Being Rescued

Such an amazing rescue mission.

A dog that was found starving, sick, and scared managed to become a police sniffer dog after they were rescued by the authorities.

The dog was reportedly found inside a bucket when he was still a puppy in July 2019.

Badger, the cocker spaniel, was dumped by his former owner before he turned 1 month old.

Badger was not the only one.

According to reports, 3 other cocker spaniels were found abandoned inside a bucket in Redhill, Surrey.

The puppies were underweight, malnourished, and were sick.

After being brought to local vets, the rescuers from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said that the dog had a chronic eye and ear infections.

1 year after the rescue mission, the dog managed to overcome all the health issues that he had and became a police dog.

PC Steph Barrett, the man that trains Badger at the Surrey and Sussex Police Dog Unit, said that training has helped the dog trust humans again.

That’s amazing.

Talking about the dog, PC Barrett said:

After a lot of love and training, he has regained trust in humans. He’s still got that cheeky side, but he’s obsessed with work. He makes me smile all day.

Badger and the 3 other puppies needed special care and 4 different types of ear and eye drop per day for recovery.

The news was confirmed by a vet.

After being rescued, the dogs were named after characters of Stranger Things, a hit TV series on Netflix.

The dogs were named El, Lucas, Mike, and Dustin.

The name of Dustin was changed to Badger after being rehomed.

Badger is now 20 months old and is part of the Surrey and Sussex Police’s Dog Unit training programme.

Badger became a police sniffer dog 6 months ago.
