When we, humans, sometimes get into situations that are really hard to bear, we sometimes tend to give up and say, we will try again the next time, but that’s not the mentality this turtle has.
An endangered sea turtle learned how to swim again despite losing 2 flippers.
If this turtle could do it, you can get through the bad times that you are in right now!
Lou, an olive ridley turtle, lost 2 of its flippers after getting caught in a fishing net, which left the animal needing his front flipper on the left side and the right flipper on his backside needing to be amputated.
Lou ended up spending 5 years in rehabilitation and as a result, he managed to learn how to swim again.
Lou has been released back into the wild in Australia and is in the ocean, living his life to the fullest along with other animals.
Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Center, the group that cared for the turtle after his legs were amputated, shared the good news.
They also shared images of his release on Facebook last week!
In the post that they made on October 28, 2020, the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Center said:
Lou after a long journey by plane and 4 wheel drive was released on the Cape this morning. It was a wonderful release and huge thanks to everyone who has made this possible. You’ve got this Lou!
Jennie Gilbert, the co-founder of the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Center, talked about the release of Lou and said that they were tracking the animal.
They said that the turtle had traveled 60 kilometers.
They added:
It took him a while but once he got going, he was moving at great speed. It’s a great show of determination and resilience. The cute thing was there was a smaller turtle who took a peek at Lou. It was almost like the small one saying, ‘welcome back to country’.
A lot of people were extremely happy with the release of Lou back into the ocean.
I mean, who would not be?
Good luck with your new adventurous life Lou! May you stay safe and enjoy your life in the place where you actually belong!
