An extremely rare blue lobster was saved from going into a cooking pot at a Red Lobster restaurant, instead, it was sent into a zoo, where it will live the rest of its life in peace and harmony.
The rescue came when an employee at the Red Lobster restaurant in Cuyahoga Falls noticed the unusual color of the lobster as it was being unloaded during a delivery.
The staff named the lobster as Clawde, which is also the name of the restaurant’ chains mascot.
The staff then contacted conservationists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and informed them about the blue lobster.
The aquarium went on to contact the Akron Zoo, who are partners alongside Red Lobster in a statewide conservation partnership called Seafood Watch.
The Akron Zoo released a statement about the incident, where they confirmed the incident and said that they were really quick in finding the lobster a new home.
Tout of 2 million lobsters, there is only 1 in them that turns out to be blue. This makes Clawde a very, very, very rare lobster.
The blue color of the lobster is caused by a genetic anomaly that happens in the American Lobsters, whose shells are usually red.
The Akron Zoo added in their statement:
Clawde is acclimating to his new home here at the Akron Zoo, in a special tank that has been dubbed ‘Clawde’s Man Cave’ by his care team.
Then the Komodo Kingdom Building is the place where Clawde is currently living.
The building is closed to people and guests because of the coronavirus pandemic.
