Extremely Sad Looking Possum Accidentally Trashes Woman’s Office In Australia

Bree Blakeman, a woman that works at the Australia National University in Canberra, opened the door of her office earlier this week to find an adorable possum in her office.

Initially, Bree thought someone broken into her office on Monday morning as everything was trashed.

Paintings, maps, and books that were supposed to be on shelves were on the floor when Bree entered the office.

Along with that, she realized that there was a hole in the ceiling of her office and there were dislodged tiles lying on the floor.

Looking around to find what else was damaged, Blakeman realized that the culprit was still with her in the office.

During an interview with BuzzFeed News, Blakeman said, “It wasn’t until I went to check my computer on the far side of the room that I noticed a fluffy little face staring at me from behind the computer.”

Blakeman added, “And that’s when I also noticed the toilet droppings and urine everywhere too. It all made sense.”

The adorable little furry face that she saw was a common Australian Brushtail Possum that managed to get inside Blakeman’s office through the roof.

Talking about the poor little fella, Blakeman said, “It seemed resigned and of course a bit shy and scared. Going by the number of books that had fallen from the shelves I think it must have tried to climb up the shelves to get up through the ceiling again a number of times. So I think it was a bit exhausted too.”

For those who don’t know, Possums are nocturnal creatures.

The poor little was stuck inside an office that was filled with lights.

That might explain the sad expression the little fella had on its face.

After a couple of minutes, Blakeman gave a piece of carrots, water, and “a few kind words” before closing the door and calling the relocation people.

Blakeman said the entire ordeal was uncomfortable for her.

In the meantime, Blakeman posted to Twitter about her run with some Australian wildlife.

Blakeman got in touch with some Australian wildlife.

Later that morning, a box trap with fruit was placed inside the office so the poor little fella can be relocated safely.

But due to the wild weather of Australia, the Australia National University was closed after the city of Canberra was hit by a severe hail storm.

The efforts to evacuate the possum were stopped.

On the morning of January 22, 2020, the possum departed the office of Blakeman on its own.

Blakeman said, “I just received an email to say that possum has made its own way out of the room! After a rest and a snack, it must have managed to climb back up through the hole in the ceiling.”

The office of Blakeman is still a huge mess.
