Hero Dog Risks Life To Save Newborn Kittens From Burning House

A dog risked his life to save a litter of newborn kittens from a burning house in Melbourne, Australia.

Leo, a terrier cross, had to be revived with a heart massage and oxygen.

This happened after Leo risked his life to save a litter of newborn kittens from a burning house.

The firefighters who saved Leo, the hero pooch, said the dog wouldn’t leave the building despite the thick smoke coming out of the house.

The dog was found guarding the litter of newborn kittens in one of the bedrooms.

The incident happened when a house in Melbourne, Australia, got on fire.

A woman and her 3 children, and the family’s other dog managed to escape from the massive fire.

Leo wouldn’t flee and was found not breathing next to the kittens.

Firefighters rushed the dog and the newborn kittens to safety.

Ken Brown, the fire service commander, said, “Leo wouldn’t leave the kittens and it nearly cost him his life.”

The four kittens also survived the fire and Leo, who firefighters are calling “Smoky”, was saved and revived.

An 11-year-old girl was also treated in a hospital for smoke inhalation.

Local media reports suggest that there were no working smoke alarms in the house that got burned.

It is believed that the cost of damage brought by the fire is around $150,000.
