A tiger in India has just set the bar high for every other tiger in India after it traveled 807 miles in search of a mate or prey.

The tiger reportedly killed and ate wild pigs and cattle along the way.

The 2 and a half-year-old male tiger left its home in June after it got fitted with a radio collar.

C1, the tiger, was being kept in a wildlife sanctuary in the western state of Maharashtra.

It was tracked traveling back to the site after it crossed farms, highways, and even a state next to Maharashtra.

During the 5 months, 807-mile long journey of the tiger, the wild cat only came across humans once.

The tiger was resting in an area where a human was exploring the area. The tiger attacked the man and caused injuries to the person.

Tigers need a breeding and prey population of 500 in order to ensure a food back.

Authorities believe the tiger was on a lookout to secure this in a different area.

C1 is one of 3 male cubs that were born at the Tipeshwar Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to 10 other tigers.

C1 got its collar in February, and it started to roam the forests to find a suitable area to settle.

After his long journey, the animal was tracked down to a different sanctuary in Maharashtra.

The tiger did not travel in a linear manner.

Reports suggest that the tiger was tracked for 9 months and was found in over 5,000 locations.

Dr. Bilal Habib, the Senior Biologist with the Wildlife Institute of India, said, “The tiger is possibly looking for territory, food and a mate. Most of the potential tiger areas are full and new tigers have to explore more.”

Due to his long journey, the collar has been drained to 80 percent battery life.

Authorities in India are now in fear as they might lose communication with the tiger.

Dr. Bilal also confirmed the attack that was carried out by the tiger.

Officials are now planning to capture the tiger and relocate it to a sanctuary so they can avoid future accidents.
