2 whale watchers at Avila Beach in California, USA, were caught on cam having an extremely close encounter with a massive humpback whale.
According to a video and reports that are viral on the internet right now, 2 whale watchers ended up in the mouth of a massive humpback whale.
Liz Cottriel and Julie McSorley, the 2 women, said they were watching whales from a distance of around 30 feet during a peaceful morning near Avila Beach in California.
Little did they know that they will end up in the water after almost getting swallowed by a humpback whale.
The 2 said that everything changed when a large pool of fish emerged near them.
During an interview with their local Fox News station, Julie said:
I saw the big pool of fish, the big bait ball come up out of the water. I saw the whale come up … I thought, ‘Oh no! It’s too close’. All of a sudden, I lifted up, and I was in the water.
Liz also commented on the incident by saying:
I’m thinking to myself, ‘I’m gonna push’. Like, I’m gonna push a whale out of the way! It was the weirdest thought. I’m thinking, ‘I’m dead. I’m dead’. I thought it was gonna land on me.
The women were in the sea after being flipped over.
Good thing is that they got back up and other kayakers and paddleboarders came to the scene to help them right away.
They also made sure that the whale would not bite them.
Some people that were at the scene said that the women were inside the mouths of the whale for some time before they got to hit the water.
The entire incident was recorded on cam and it is viral on the internet.
The 2 women paddled to the shore and were unharmed.
However, the car keys of McSorley ended up being lost as a result of the incident.
