Morning walkers were in shock after they head an animal crying near an open gym in the Thane area and ended up alerting the forest officials after they realized the crying animal was a newborn leopard.
According to the Forest Department, the newborn leopard was found on the side of the road in the Yeoor Hills area in Thane district.
The cub did not have any injuries, but it was weak.
The cub was later handed to the animal rescue center at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park for further care.
The newborn leopard cub was spotted by morning walkers as they were walking in an area of the Yeoor Hills in Thane on Wednesday.
Reports suggest that the leopard was head crying near an open gym in the area.
Upon investigating, the walkers realized it was a leopard cub and called the forest department officials.
The rescuers said the cub is around 2 to 3 days old.
Morning walkers in the area have been asked to stay alert for the incoming days as the mother of the cub is expected to be looking for the cub in the same area.
