After the siting of pigeons wearing cowboy hats in Las Vegas, a pigeon in Reno, Nevada, was spotted wearing a tiny sombrero.
Sabra Newby, the City Manager of Reno, tweeted about the bird on Wednesday, saying it is quirky and fun.
Newby also said the act is inhumane.
According to the Washoe County Regional Animal Services officials, this is the first known sighting of pigeons wearing sombreros.
The latest siting of pigeons wearing a sombrero comes after pigeons in Las Vegas with miniature cowboy hats were spotted.
It is still unclear who is placing the hats on the birds.
Newby, the manager of Reno, said, “Reno cares about our animals. They need protection and don’t need to become a punchline.”
People who see the bird are encouraged to call animal services dispatch officers.
Authorities are concerned about the hats as they are being glued to the heads of the pigeons.
