Apple Patents New Technology That Makes Its Future MacBook, iMac Keyboards Water-Resistant

Apple’s request for a patent has been granted due to which the tech giant can make water-resistant keyboards for its future iMacs and MacBook devices. The wonderful technology will prevent Apple keyboards from the occasional spill of coffee, water, tea, and many other common liquids utilized in everyday work atmosphere. As per the latest Apple patent filing statement “the platform is configured to prevent ingress of liquid and debris that may enter the set of apertures.”

The details are available at Apple World Today in its report about the patent but have provided no clue about when Apple is looking forward to starting using this innovation into its future products. Apple is famous for filing lots of patents, but not all of them are able to make their way to the consumers in the form of products. The report also gives a summary of Apple’s innovation: “keyboard device includes a shell having a set of apertures formed into a top surface. A group of keys is disposed of in the set of apertures. A platform is disposed under the group of keys and substantially fills an interior of the shell. The platform has a cavity formed in a lower surface of the platform. A circuit board, which is operable to control the keyboard is disposed within the cavity. The platform is configured to prevent ingress of liquid and debris that may enter the set of apertures.”

Despite the fact that the cost of repair and replacement of keyboards due to liquid spill does not require much money, but it does cost much when it happens to an out of warranty Apple MacBooks and iMacs. If this innovation is integrated into future Apple products, it will certainly prove to be a plus point in selling future iMacs, MacBook, and MacBook Pro devices.

As per the statement attached to the patent (number 10,082,880), “keyboard shell could also sport a rear aperture formed into a side wall that may be configured as an antenna, that is tuned to transmit wireless signals at a frequency.”

This year, the company has refreshed the MacBook Pro line-up and the new models come attached with a new keyboard that fixes the dust problem that Apple had acknowledged earlier this year. Due to the dust-resistance technology and the integration of liquid resistance, Apple keyboards may become the most attractive products in the market in the near future.
