Sushma Swaraj has been setting an example for all the politicians ever since she has stepped up as the External Affairs Minister. After announcing the new rules to apply for an Indian passport the External Affairs Ministry has come up with yet another gift for all the Indian citizens.
Now you won’t have to spend days standing in queues at the passport offices to apply for a passport. You will now be able to apply for passports even at your nearest post office. Sushma Swaraj took an initiative to reduce the workload on passport offices and also to make the process of applying for a new passport more simplified.
From next month, people in select cities will be able to apply for passports in post offices. The External Affairs Ministry is making all required arrangements for the roll-out of the scheme in some of the select cities in first half of March.
In the first phase of the project, passport services will be made available at select post offices in Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Jharkhand and some other states.
“It is our effort that Post Office Passport Sewa Kendras announced in the first phase should start functioning before 31.3.2017,” External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted.

Currently, 89 Passport Seva Kendras (PSK) are operating across the country as extended arms of the 38 Passport Offices. People were curious to know whether their city was on the list or not. Sushma Swaraj had an answer that brought a smile on every curious face.
This initiative is surely expected to make our passport applying experience a pleasant one. After the first phase, other cities too will be covered in the upcoming phases of e-initiative.
