Archaeologists Uncover 13,000-year-old Bones Of Ancient, Extinct Bison Species

According to Florida Atlantic University, the bones are believed to be about 13,000 to 14,000 years old. This is found buried at 10 feet deep under the ground surface where there is Pleistocene period material is observed which is usually found when the last ice age was thought to occur.

The archeologists analyze the bones of the animals and determine which animal it is. In this process, they identified the bones and analyzed to find that the animal was American Bison that roamed in North America before it was extinct.

Due to their diet, the researchers found the animal 100 per cent as the animal was a grassland adapted animal. Bison antiques are most commonly known as ancient bison says the Archeologists which are found mostly common large herbivore in North America about 10,000 years back. They say that these animals are about 8 feet tall and 15 feet long and 3,500 pounds in weight.

“This finding is especially significant because of the meticulous documentation that has been involved, along with the fact that bones like this have never been found on land as part of a calculated archeological effort. Others like this have all been found underwater, in sinkholes or streams,” said James M. Adovasio, Ph.D., principal investigator said.
