Arvind Kejriwal To Start “Doorstep Delivery Of Services Through Phone Numbers” From Sept 10 Onwards

New Delhi: As per the promise made by Arvind Kejriwal, from September 10 onwards, the Delhiites will not have to run from pillar to post to get their work done but instead the government itself will launch its “doorstep delivery of services” in the city.

With the help of doorstep delivery of services, Mr. Kejriwal said, a person will be able to acquire services like income or caste certificate, driver’s license or pension through a “single phone number”.

“On September 10, the Delhi government will give you a single phone number on which you can just order the service you want. Just convey the time to suit your convenience, and a Delhi government official will come to your doorstep to get your work done,” said Mr. Kejriwal.

During his speech at the inaugural function of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Dwarka Sector 10, the AAP Delhi Chief Minister said that the facility will help people to apply and get income or caste certificate specially for those who had to travel long distances.

Mr. Kejriwal also said that the doorstep delivery of services would help in the removal of the role of touts and save a lot of time of the people along with cutting short long queues in front of offices.

“After just one call, the official will come to your home with all the required machines including biometrics and scanners. You will then just have to upload your documents and your certificate or license will be delivered to you within a week,” he said.

According to him, the scheme would in the beginning consist of only “40 government services” by the Delhi government and will be gradually increased to 150 services overall for the people living in the national capital.

The move comes at a time, when Delhi faces severe traffic and pollution problems as it grows bigger and bigger year by year. The government even had to come up with an idea to allow cars either with even or odd numbers on the road. But that didn’t bring any respite and left the problem and the idea as it was. Pollution is another big problem in the city with last year facing severe atmospheric conditions filled with gases from pollution and farmers burning leftover dried plantations in neighboring states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

The move may help the denizens of the national capital to easily get out of all these problems and go on with their daily lives and business.
