India is the place where there are many historical monuments, interesting places with amazing stories. These days we are seeing the humans who are behaving like animals, but the Power of Hindu temples wherein even animals behave better than many humans. Here is the story of the temple in Kerala where Babiya, a crocodile guards the famous Ananthapura Lake Temple in Kasargode.
The myth of the crocodile, Babiya is that it is considered as the guardian of the temple. There is Lord Krishna temple towards south-west of the main temple. The main attraction here is the crocodile present in the lake. This is living since 150 years in the lake and do not harm anyone in the temple. Babiya is pure vegetarian and only eats the temple prasad which is made of rice and jaggery. Moreover, it does not harm any living creature in the lake including fish. Every day the temple worshiper presents food to crocodile after the noon worship. If worshiper calls crocodile with its name nearby cave, the crocodile silently comes and have food. The devotees feed the crocodile by keeping the food in the mouth.

Some of the people say that around 67 years back the British soldier had killed the crocodile and the soldier died within few days with snakebite. People believed that it was a curse of serpent god Anantha. Later, another crocodile appeared next day in the lake. No one knows from where the crocodile came as there are no rivers are lakes near to the temple.
Another story is that, Once Sree Vilvamangalathu Swami, a devotee of Lord Vishnu, was doing penance for his favourite lord. While he was in his prayers, Lord Krishna in the form of a little boy appeared and started irritating him. Being angry by the behaviour of the child, the saint pushed Krishna aside. The boy immediately disappeared into a nearby cave and then the truth emerged on the saint. The crevice into which Krishna is said to have disappeared still exists in the temple. The crocodile quietly guards the entrance and the shrine. The people also say that if you are lucky then you will see the Babiya swimming in the lake.
