Bangalore-Ernakulam Express Derailed: Train Accident 8 Dead Over 60 Injured

Eight passengers were killed and more than 60 injured, some of them are in critical condition when the Bangalore-Ernakulam Inter City Express derailed near Anekal. Railway officials said about nine coaches have been derailed in the mishap that occurred between Anekal-Hosur on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border about 45 kms away at around 7.40am. The train had started at 6 am. The accident occurred after the train hit a boulder that had fallen on the track, tweeted Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. Many casualties are feared after multiple coaches of the Bangalore-Ernakulam Intercity Express train derailed and the engine caught fire in the early hours of Friday morning.

Bangalore-Ernakulam Inter City Express Accident:

The incident took place near Anekal near Mulagondapalli and Chandrapuram in the early hours on Friday. Several passengers have been trapped in the coaches mangled due to the impact of derailment and being pulled out. The injured trapped in derailed bogies were being removed and rushed to hospitals in Bengaluru and nearby Hosur, sources said. Local villagers rushed in on their two-wheelers and helped.
