This Bengal Woman ‘Sucked’ Her Husband’s Blood Every Night To ‘Keep Evil Away’ Until He Died

This horrific story of a vampire woman will leave you in shock but at the same time, it is one of the realities in India which is yet o set its foot in the 21st century.

The bizarre incident took place in Sadaipur village in Birbhum district of West Bengal, a rural part of India. A woman, accused of indulging in witchcraft and for sitting on her husband’s chest in the dead of the night daily to suck his blood eventually causing his death.

The woman is identified as Sabitri, who has married to her dead husband Abhijit Bagdi a few years ago. She has been accused of practicing witchcraft on their house premises by her in-laws. On a full moon night, Sabitri gave her husband a good bath and made him lie beside a Trishul she had seeded in their house premise.

She went on to sit on the man’s chest in the open, biting his lips and ultimately sucking some blood out of it. Apparently, locals always doubted Sabitri of practicing witchcraft which became prominent after the husband started keeping ill-health following the new moon night.

For many, this may seem like a scene taken from a horror movie but it was a reality for the man’s mother, a reality that ended with her son’s death. Soon, Abhijit fell ill and on Monday he was admitted to a hospital in Burdwan. He was soon administered with three bottles of blood after the doctors said he was anemic. But it’s too late as he passed away.

The couple’s neighbors have also claimed of having seen Sabitri walking in a rhythmic style in the middle of the night and when somebody asked her about it, she said she is a ‘dakini’ (witch) and if anybody tried to stop her, she would suck his/her blood as well. When asked, an unmoved Sabitri said she did all this to ward off evil from his in-laws.

However, Sabitri’s family who faced the villagers’ ire after the incident, claimed innocence. They argued that the cause of Bagdi’s death was some other domestic matter and their daughter is being falsely framed.

The reports also claimed that the villagers attacked the family of Sabitri and police had to intervene to save the family members. Sabitri was however detained.
