BHIM App Amazingly Tops The Google Charts, Things You Must Know

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the mobile application ‘BHIM’ through the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to ease a pathway towards digitalisation and cashless economy.

Despite the presence of the odds and complexities in the various other mobile wallets such as Paytm, Mobikwik and free charge. BHIM has its specifications that are extremely focussed on the need and way the Indians could use with ease.

The most important feature in this app is that the transfers can be processed even though there is no app in the receiver’s mobile.

This exclusive app was launched on December 30 and its merely 3 days, the app has already topped the list of Google free mobile applications.

The app currently has a fine rating of 4.2 with more than 1 million downloads on the Play Store. More than 87,000 users reviewed the application which is very rare corresponding to the installations. Remember, BHIM app is only available for Android users.

Though the app is limited only to android users, it didn’t affect the majority of Indians.

Despite the appreciable rating, several problems reported about the problems with the BHIM app. Vital issues include the non-flexibility in generating PINs or paying via the app. The official BHIM app account had also tweeted that they were facing issues due to massive interest from the public. It looks like an update called ‘#GoCashlessIndia’ was pushed out for users as well.

The most important things one has to understand about the BHIM app are:

  • BHIM is a digital payment solution app based on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The app allows users to send or receive money to other accounts using UPI or via IFSC and MMID code as well. You can make direct payments to merchants by scanning QR code.
  • Users can send money to their friend or family even if they don’t have the BHIM app, as it is linked directly to a bank account. A maximum of Rs 10,000 can be shared per transaction, and a total of Rs 20,000 can be sent within 24 hours.
  • A number of banks support the BHIM app. The list includes Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, Central Bank of India, DCB Bank, Dena Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, IDFC Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, IndusInd Bank, Karnataka Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, RBL Bank, South Indian Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, State Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, and Vijaya Bank.
  • BHIM lets you choose your preferred bank after it has verified your mobile number. The app will then ask you to set a passcode (4 digits), which you can choose. You will need this code every time you open the app. The UPI pin will need to authenticate the transaction.
  • BHIM will support Aadhaar-based payments as well. The feature is supposed to go live soon. Once launched, users will be able to make transactions with a fingerprint impression.

Further, the government has also rolled out UPI integration to USSD payments, which can work on feature phones and offline as well.
