Bill Clinton Says He Had Affair With Monica Lewinsky So He Could Manage His “Anxieties”

Bill Clinton, the former president of the US, opened up about his notorious affair with Monica Lewinsky, a former White House Intern, in a brand new documentary.

In the documentary, Clinton said he had an affair with Monica Lewinsky so he could manage his anxieties.

The four-part Hulu Documentary, which is called “Hillary” explores various points in the career of the former First Lady.

The documentary showcases the life of Hillary from her student days to when she was defeated by Donald Trump, the current president of the United States, in the 2016 Presidential Election.

In the documentary, the Clintons also addressed the Lewinsky Scandal and how it affected their marriage life.

Bill Clinton, who is 73 years –old, said, “You feel like you’re staggering around, you’ve been in a 15 round prize fight that was extended to 30 rounds and here’s something that will take your mind off it for a while, that’s what happens.”

He added, “Because there, whatever life – not just me. Everybody’s life has pressures and disappointments, terrors, fears of whatever.”

He continued, “Things I did to manage my anxieties for years. I’m a different, totally different person than I was, a lot of that stuff 20 years ago.”

Bill said his affair with Monica was a way for him to manage his anxieties during a time of great stress and pressure.

He added, “You feel like you’re staggering around, you’ve been in a 15 round prize fight that was extended to 30 rounds and here’s something that will take your mind off it for a while, that’s what happens. Because there, whatever life – not just me. Everybody’s life has pressures and disappointments, terrors, fears of whatever. Things I did to manage my anxieties for years. I’m a different, totally different person than I was, a lot of that stuff 20 years ago.”

Bill also talked about how the scandal impacted the life of Monica Lewinsky, who was just 22 years old when the affair started.

The former president said, “I feel terrible about the fact that Monica Lewinsky’s life was defined by it, unfairly I think. Over the years, I’ve watched her trying to get a normal life back again, but you’ve got to decide how to define normal.”

In the documentary, Bill also talked about the moment when he confessed the affair to his wife.

He said, “I went and sat on the bed and talked to her. I told her exactly what happened, when it happened. I said I feel terrible about it. She said you have to tell your daughter. She said that’s worse than me. So I did that, which was awful.”

Hillary Clinton, who is now 72, talked about how hurt she was by her husband’s acts.

In the documentary, she said, “ I was just devastated. I could not believe it. I was so personally just hurt and I can’t believe this, I can’t believe you lied. We saw a counselor… painful, painful discussions.”

After the scandal, Bill Clinton became the 2nd president in the history of the United States of America to be impeached.

He was charged with perjury to a grand jury as well as obstruction of justice after denying having sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky.

After a 5 week trial, he was acquitted on both charges.
