The Blame Game Between Delhi Traffic Police And Gurugram Police On Twitter Is Going Viral

The national capital region witnessed cloudy skies and light showers on Saturday for the second consecutive day. The dip in temperature has brought some much-needed relief from the roasting heat in the region but the slight drizzling affected in huge traffic jams across the city.

It’s an open secret that heavy rains bring life to a halt in Delhi and NCR and traffic jam is a common thing in this situation.

The traffic speed was very slow on the Delhi-Noida-Direct flyover. Interestingly, the Delhi Traffic Police alerted people about congestion on the roads but the alert notices on Twitter did not include those areas where traffic snarls were caused by rains.

Delhi saw incessant rains throughout the day along with some serious traffic snarls and an even serious Twitter war between the Delhi Police and Gurgaon Police. Social Media has become so important nowadays that even the government departments have made themselves available online in order to communicate in a better manner with the public.

Angry, frustrated, and disappointed commuters took to Twitter to express their grievances. One such commuter, Birender Kumar Singh, tweeted to the Delhi Traffic Police regarding a traffic jam on NH 48. He wrote, “Stuck for last one hour at NH 48 in front of ambiance mall. Please help.”

The Delhi Traffic Police, which has been posting traffic alerts on its Twitter account, promptly replied that since the area was out of its jurisdiction, the complaint was being forwarded to the Gurugram Police. The tweet read, “Thanks, the matter is out of Delhi Police jurisdiction so your complaint is being forwarded to @gurgaonpolice for taking necessary action.”

Gurugram police were fast to respond to Delhi Traffic Police tweet and shifted the blame back to them by telling them to deal with the traffic at Rajokri flyover which as per them was the reason of traffic jam at NH 48. The tweet read, “@dtptraffic Plz clear your traffic over the Rajokri flyover. This is resulting in serious traffic congestion in Gurugram.”

The Delhi Traffic Police, however, held both its cool and its ground. This Twitter banter ended as Delhi Police said that the staff is present on the location to handle traffic. “Thanks, sir as per report area traffic officer, the staff is present and regulation the traffic,” they replied.

The blame game and avoidance of responsibilities did not sit well with the people. They slammed both the departments.

Twitter Reactions:

Whatever may be the issue, both the departments should have shown some interest in helping the public rather than playing the blame game, isn’t it?
