To counter the rivals like Jio, Airtel and Vodafone, the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has come up with a new postpaid offer. As per the new Rs. 299 BSNL plan, subscribers can avail benefits like 31GB data with an FUP, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS per day. This offer seems to be intended to take on Jio’s Rs. 199 plan along with Airtel and Vodafone’s Rs. 299 postpaid plans. The new offer by BSNL comes just weeks after it announced add-on packages last month. Under those offers, subscribers get additional high-speed data even after their monthly limits are over.
Now talking about the new BSNL postpaid plan, the Rs. 299 plan is targeted only at new customers and not for the existing customers. Under the monthly plan, it offers 31GB data, unlimited voice calls to any network in those service supported by BSNL (that means not available in Mumbai and Delhi circles), and a total of 100 SMS per day. After the FUP data gets over, the speed of the internet will come down to 80Kbps. As per the report by Telecom Talk, the consumer is required to pay extra GST charges over and above the Rs. 299 plan and the plan does not come inclusive of those charges, as is the case with other postpaid plans by all operators. Moreover, the new BSNL postpaid plan also does not provide any option to carry forward unused data from the previous billing cycle to the next billing cycle.
As state above, the new monthly postpaid plan seems to be intended to compete with the Rs. 199 postpaid plans of Jio that provides the user a total of 25GB 4G data with free unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages and access to Jio’s entire suite of apps on a complimentary basis for a standard bill cycle. Additional data can also be availed by the users at Rs. 20 per GB for the next 500GB. The plan requires a security deposit of Rs. 250 which is 100 percent refundable, and Jio Prime membership worth Rs. 99.
And if compared, the Rs. 299 Vodafone Red Basic postpaid plan avails 20GB data with unlimited voice calling, free incoming and outgoing on roaming, free subscription to Vodafone Play for up to 12 months and 100 SMS messages (local and STD). Lastly, Airtel has got an Rs. 399 postpaid plan that brings 20GB 3G/4G data per month that come along with rollover support up to 200GB. Moreover, the plan also offers unlimited local, STD, and roaming calls as well as 100 SMS messages per day for the period of the entire billing cycle.
