A 23-year-old Nigerian boyfriend murdered his partner and ate her heart with hopes of getting rich through the blood-curdling ritual.

23-year-old Owolabi Adeeko said he hit Favor Daley-Oladele, his girlfriend, with a pestle on her head at a church.

Owolabi and Bola, his 46-year-old mother, scoffed her heart and breasts afterward.

Talking about the crime, Owolabi said he thought human sacrifice would make them both wealthy.

He explained, “We have not got any money.”

He added, “Things have not been going on well. My mum’s business has not improved after what we did despite all our efforts. The money ritual did not work.”

Owolabi and his mother were arrested by the police.

A pastor in the church suspected of cooking the body parts was also detained.

The incident reportedly happened in rural Ikoyi-lle, Nigeria.

In an interview with the local press, Owolabi said he regrets killing his girlfriend.

He said, “I have a lot of regrets and I feel very bad that I did such a thing to my girlfriend. I have felt bad from the moment I did it.”

Bola, the mother of Owolabi, said she has no idea about the death of the woman.

Bola said she thought she was eating goat during the ritual.

Local news agencies said the body of the girlfriend was exhumed near the church after the ritual.

The girlfriend, who is 22-years-old, was a sociology student at the Lagos State University, which is 160 miles away from the gruesome murder scene.

David, the father of the girlfriend, said he wants justice for the horrible death of his daughter.

He said, “I want justice. My wife is seriously ill – I had to rush her to hospital.”

He added, “Her illness is because of stress and as a result of what happened. This is a trying time for me.”

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the spokesperson of the local police, confirmed that Owolabi confessed the crime.

In a statement that was released by Abimbola Oyeyemi, he said, “On interrogation, Owolabi Adeeko confessed to the police that the deceased was his girlfriend.”

He added, “Things were not going well with his parents, especially his mother, who is the breadwinner of the family.”

He continued, “When he sought assistance from the pastor, he was asked to bring a human being for that purpose and the only available person at that time was his girlfriend.”

An official investigation for the case has been launched.
