Chinese Student Gets Attacked By Racist Thug For Speaking Mandarin

A Chinese student was brutally beaten up by a racist thug in Adelaide, Australia, after he was heard speaking Mandarin, a Chinese dialect.

Constantine, the student, was attacked by a racist thug when he was speaking Mandarin as he walked in Adelaide last week.

He was reportedly approached by the attacker, who started to say racist things towards him.

Mark Holgate, the fencing teacher of Constantine, shared some details of what happened during the incident on a post that he made on Facebook.

Holgate said the man reportedly told Constantine to speak English before he smashed a huge section of his cheekbone.

The fencing teacher of Constantine described the victim as one of the nicest people he has ever met in his life.

He also said that the racist attack made him angry and ashamed to be called Australian.

The teacher said, “Constantine traveled from China to Australia to learn historical fencing and this is what Australia has given him. I’m just gutted for him. Well done Australia, way to encourage tourism”

He added, “Our country has an ugly history of racism. Challenge it and call it out. And look after your Asian friends, the coronavirus is just another excuse that’s stirring up racist violence.”

The horrific attack left Constantine in need of serious and expensive facial reconstruction surgery.

As a result, Holgate, the teacher of Constantine, set up a GoFundMe page to help the student cover the cost of the expensive procedure.

On February 26, 2020, Constantine underwent facial reconstruction surgery.

In a post that was made after the surgery, Holgate said the operation was a success.

The post said, “[Constantine] is still quite uncomfortable, but he’s being looked after well and is appreciating the messages of encouragement and compassion. Your compassion helps, and goes a long way to showing him that so many Australians care for him and find his treatment abhorrent.”

Constantine traveled from China to Australia just to learn historical fencing.

The injuries that Constantine sustained will not be keeping him away from playing the sport he loves.

For those that are wondering, yes, the attacker was arrested by the police.

The police reportedly arrested the attacker after he decided to return to the scene of the crime.

In a statement that was released by the Adelaide Police, they said, “Police attended the scene and located the offender where he was arrested and charged with assault and property damage.”

They added, “A 24-year-old man from Noarlunga Downs was granted police bail and he will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 30.”

Holgate is still raising money for his good student.

The teacher says the funds that they will gather are going to be used towards the medical expenses and recovery of the student.

They will also buy him a gift.

Let’s all hope that Constantine will have a fast and great recovery.
