A Chinese vlogger was found dead inside his apartment after he ate poisonous insects and geckos during a live stream at DouYu, the largest streaming platform in China.
Sun, the Chinese vlogger, went live on DouYu and decided to eat poisonous insects and geckos during the stream.
Reports suggest he did this to increase his fan base and view counts.
In a report that was released by the Xinan Evening News, 35-year-old Sun had 15,000 followers in DouYu and would go live every day during evenings.
The report also mentioned that Sun went live and had a spinning wheel that had items such as centipedes, geckos, mealworms, vinegar, eggs, beer, and a clear distilled liquor called baijiu.
Sun then ate or drank the item that the wheel landed on during the live stream.
Sun went live on July 18, 2019 (Thursday) at 7:53 PM and was seen eating poisonous insects and geckos.
According to the reports that were released, Sun was found dead inside his flat in Hefei City of the Aunhui Province on Saturday (July 20, 2019) by his girlfriend.
The police confirmed the news and said that Sun was found dead inside his flat and had no vital signs when the girlfriend got there.
The police also found leftovers of what Sun ate during the live stream.
The police have ruled out foul play in the said accident.
It is being reported that an autopsy will be done so the police can figure out the exact cause of the death of Sun.
All the videos Sun uploaded on DouYu have been deleted by the streaming platform.
