Court Gives Time To CBI To File 2nd Chargesheet In Gurgaon Schoolboy Death

Gurgaon: The CBI was directed by a sessions court today to file supplementary chargesheet related to the murder case of a seven year old boy at a private school in Gurgaon by the month of May 14 after the agency sought more time.

Additional Sessions Judge Jasbir Singh Kundu had granted time to the crime agency after taking note of a fresh plea from the agency which stated that investigation in the case was going on and it needed some more time to file the supplementary report.

The court also directed the officials from the private school to be present in the court on the next date of hearing on May 14.

And regarding the arguments which were made on a plea moved by the accused, a 16 year old student which challenged the juvenile justice board order by saying that it was “bad in law” and was passed without even giving him proper opportunity to present his case, was also conducted today.

Last year on December 20, The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) held that the teenager would be tried as an adult and directed that he needs to be produced before the Gurgaon Sessions Court.

The court in its earlier instance had directed the CBI to take on the investigation on a fast-pace mode and submit a final progress report by today. The bus conductor Ashok Kumar was also acquitted in the murder case after the CBI said that there was no evidence about his involvement in the crime.

In its another earlier instance, the court had barred the media from using the name of the 16 year old juvenile accused in the case and asked it to utilize fictitious names instead.

The court named the seven year old victim as ‘Prince’ by the court and for the juvenile, it named it as ‘Bholu’ and the school was to be referrd as ‘Vidyalaya’.

In a charge sheet file by the CBI, the agency alleged that the teenager was responsible for the murder of the student in September last year in order to get the exams postpone and cancel a scheduled parent teacher meeting.

The CBI had said in its final report, that it has sufficient oral, documentary and forensic evidence has come on record to substantiate that the 16-year-old accused had committed the murder on September 8 last year. The child’s body was found with its throat slit in the washroom of the school.

The CBI gave a clean chit to the previously accused school bus conductor Ashok Kumar, who was earlier held by the Gurgaon Police, saying that there was no evidence to prove his involvement in the crime.

The CBI took up the responsibility of the case from the Gurgaon police on September 22, after there was a nationwide uproar over the gruesome killing.
