RECORD ALERT: This Delhi Batsman Smashed A Triple Century In A T20 Match

Delhi batsman Mohit Ahlawat created history by becoming the first batsman to score a triple century in the Twenty20 format. 21-year-old Mohit Ahlawat became the first batsman in the world to score a 300 in a T20 match on Tuesday. No player has ever crossed the 200-run-mark in international or domestic T20 matches.

While it was a local match played in Delhi, Ahlawat’s knock was one was filled with superlatives and his triple-century came in 72 balls. Mohit Ahlawat smashed 39 sixes and 14 boundaries to become the first man to score 300 runs in a T20 match.

The 21-year-old wicket-keeper batsman achieved this historic feat in a local T20 tournament at Delhi’s Lalita Park while playing for Maavi XI against Friend’s XI. Mohit’s heroic effort led his side to a mammoth score of 416 at the end of 20 overs.

“I was feeling good out there in the middle. I was middling the ball. I knew I could get to the 300-run mark if I batted for 20 overs. After the 17th over I felt I had a realistic chance of getting to the figure. I thought if I could get at least 12 balls from final 18, I could get there. Fortunately, things went my way,” Mohit said.

The 21-year-old Ahlawat, who has played three first-class games for Delhi. In those three matches for Delhi in Ranji Trophy in the 2015-16 season, the wicket-keeper batsman managed just five runs.

Ahlawat started his cricket only four years ago when his father sent him from Panipat to LB Shastri club in Delhi under the guidance of Sanjay Bhardwaj, who is also childhood coach of former India opener Gautam Gambhir and former India U-19 skipper Unmukt Chand, Mohit has struggled quite a bit and his coach his really happy that Delhi Daredevils took note of his ward’s knock.

In professional cricket, the highest individual score in T20 cricket belongs to Chris Gayle, who made 175 runs in just 66 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
