A fake 30-year-old IPS officer was arrested in Delhi after he duped a woman with Rs. 1 lakh and promised to provide her a government job in the Rohini area of Delhi.
The arrested man has been identified as 30-year-old Raj Malhotra, he is a resident of the Kirari Area of Delhi.
DCP SD Mishra said that a 24-year-old filed a complaint against the fake IPS officer on Friday.
The woman said that she met Raj Malhotra in a gym a few months ago, she added that Raj introduced himself as an IPS officer.
The 24-year-old woman also said that Raj told her that he loves her but could not marry her as he has been diagnosed with cancer. Raj also told her that he wanted to see the woman as a government officer before he dies and this was when he took Rs. 1 lakh from the 24-year-old woman.
When the woman did not hear from Raj, she learned out that he was a man who cheats somebody after he gains their trust.
The 24-year-old woman approached Raj a couple of times through various social media platforms, but she said that he was avoiding her.
One day, Raj went to the showroom where the woman was once working at and asked her to meet him. After she denied his request, Raj started to threaten the staff of the showroom and said that he is an IPS officer and can shut the showroom down.
Raj started to stalk the woman and also said that she would face consequences if she did not meet him.
The woman filed a case at the Aman Vihar Police Station on Friday, Raj Malhotra was arrested by the police officers on the same day.
During the interrogation that was being done by the police, Raj admitted that he was not an IPS officer and he is actually a driver who used to work in the gym where he met the 24-year-old woman.
In 2017, Raj Malhotra was arrested by the officers of the Rohini South Police Station after he said that he is a sub-inspector and did the same thing.
