Dhanya Sanal becomes the first woman to reach the Agasthyakoodam peak, she is a deputy director in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

On Tuesday, Dhanya is the first woman to reach the peak after the government lifted the ban/restrictions on women to go on the annual trek.
She was the only woman in the first batch with over 100 trekkers, the trip began on Monday. Their plan was to go on a two-day trip and cover 22km and reach the peak in the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary.

The 22km trek is being organized by the State Forest Department. The trek started from Bonakkad, it takes around 7 hours to reach Athirumala, after reaching there on Monday night, the group followed their schedule and resumed their journey on Tuesday, they reached the Agasthyakoodam peak by 11 am.

Sanal broke the news via WhatsApp, she said that the trek was really tough, they went climbing up steep rocks. In the stretch of Athirumala to the Agasthyakoodam peak they had the hardest time, they even had to use ropes to help them climb up.

Dhanya Sanal added, the Agasthyakoodam trek is really tough and she only recommends physically fit women to go on the annual trek.
