Drunk driving is no fun and it has serious consequences and also it can have a serious impact on our lives. Here is one such case reported from the US where a drunk man paid the Uber driver a whopping $1,600 dollars (INR 100,000). Yes, this incident took place in the United States of America recently, which is going viral now for paying an insane amount for ‘wrongly-entered’ destination.
After partying with friends in the night, a resident from Virginia, Kenny Bachman booked an Uber cab to drive him to home and when he opened his eyes after reaching the destination, he was more than 480-kilometers away from home and realized that he is in an entirely different state.
Bachman booked an Uber XL while he was drunk, which can carry up to six passengers, which usually charges double from the regular cab. The total charges were 3.94 USD base fare, 2.35 USD booking fee, 696.95 for distance, and 115.90 USD for time. That’s a total of USD 1.636. 5.93 or Rs 1.06 lakh. The ride would have cost him significantly as low as USD 819.14 if he had booked UberX, instead of Uber XL.
Regarding the incident, Bachman says that he slept off in the vehicle and he woke up two hours after the driver told him that they were heading to New Jersey. “Afterwards I had it fully sink in. Once the ride ended and I saw how much it was when I was like ‘Alright, this is insane, that’s just crazy.” said Bachman.
He further added that he never entered home address in the Uber app and therefore, he contended the charge, but however, agreed to pay the total cost of the ride, ie., $ 1,600.
Bachman surprised the driver by giving five stars.
