An international team led by Japanese researchers found the 3D map of 3,000 galaxies that are 13 billion light years from Earth. They also say that theoretical physicist Albert Einstein`s theory of relativity is still valid.
Scientists are trying to explain why the Universe is expanding at an accelerated rate which is discovered in the 1990s. The dark energy which is a mystery for all time could be driving the acceleration or according to the Einstein`s theory of general relativity gravity warps, space and time may be breaking down.
“We tested the theory of general relativity further than anyone else ever has. It’s a privilege to be able to publish our results 100 years after Einstein proposed his theory,” said project researcher Teppei Okumura.
A team led by Okumura and Colleagues to test the Einstein`s theory with researchers from Tohoku University and Kyoto University used “Fast Sound Survey” on more than 3,000 distant galaxies to analyze the velocities and clustering.
The test result says that the General relativity is valid; indicating that even far into Universe giving further support that the expansion of the universe could be explained by a cosmological constant as proposed by Einstein.
“Having started this project 12 years ago, it gives me great pleasure to finally see this result come out,” added Karl Glazebrook, the professor at the Swinburne University of Technology.
The team break the record and finally analyzed the 30 billion galaxies which no one could not exceed more than 10 billion light years thanks, Fiber Multi-Object Spectrograph (FMOS) on Subaru telescope to analyze 12.4 to 14.7 billion light years.
