This is the most shameful moment for the Police department when a man thrashed a Policewoman on the road. A Shiv Sena Party worker was arrested on a charge of assaulting a woman traffic constable in Thane. As he was driving his car talking on Phone, the Policewoman stopped him and asked not to drive while talking on Phone. He then got down of his car and started beating the woman constable for doing so.
The man was identified by the Police as a local Shiv Sena Leader from Dharamveer Nagar, Thane. His name is Shashikant Kalgude and the Police have pressed charges of molestation against him. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Thursday at the busy Nitin Chowk on the Eastern Express Highway in Thane when the 29-year-old constable noticed Kalgude, 44, talking on his mobile phone while driving.

Kalgude ignored the constable’s signal to stop and attempted to drive his sports utility vehicle past her but she jumped in front, forcing him to stop. She demanded to see his driving licence and vehicle documents, but he allegedly abused her. As the constable bled profusely from her nose, a lawyer Pratik Pawar passing by on a bike tried to catch him but was also slapped and jostled in return.

When this incident was heard by Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray, he said “The accused is not, anymore, an office-bearer of our party. Just because of a sticker pasted on his car, the party must not be dragged into the matter. The accused action is not in the course of party work or he didn’t do it in the name of the party.”
To all those tweeting to me about Thane incident, do read the Party statement on it. Office bearer or no, doesn’t endorse the shameful act.

This is to reiterate the shameful incident of slapping a lady constable, has no political backing, will not be shielded by anyone at all

The Party supports strong and strict lawful action. He isn’t an office bearer but regardless, such acts shld be firmly dealt with by law

State Women’s Commission chief Chitra Wagh condemned the assault, as Thane Police decided to recommend suspension of Kalgude’s driving license.
