The researchers at Facebook working on Artificial intelligence (AI) have successfully set a new record in terms of improving translation from Urdu to English. The team utilized Neural Machine Translation (NMT) which is an AI-based translation technology.
A Forbes report said on Saturday that the team from Facebook AI Research (FAIR) has witnessed a dramatic improvement in its research results.
“To give some idea of the level of advancement, an improvement of 1 BLEU point (a common metric for judging the accuracy of MT) is considered a remarkable achievement in this field; our methods showed an improvement of more than 10 BLEU points,” the team said in a statement that described translation from Urdu to English.
The AI researchers at Facebook are trying to understand and, in the course, develop systems in line with human-level intelligence by advancing the longer-term academic issues regarding AI.
The research goes through a variety of topics regarding AI and to derive knowledge from data like theory, applications, theory, algorithms, software infrastructure and hardware infrastructure.
“Long-term objectives of understanding intelligence and building intelligent machines are bold and ambitious, and we know that making significant progress towards AI can’t be done in isolation,” said researchers from FAIR.
The researchers at FAIR have tested a whole new approach that makes bots learn human-like chit-chat behavior.
Facebook is working hard and making deep investments in the area of Artificial Intelligence technology and in May this year announced the next version of its open-source AI framework meant for developers.
Microsoft too is in the process of utilizing AI and Deep Neural Networks to improve real-time language translation.
Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced machine learning to improve features of language translation for languages Hindi, Bengali, and Tamil.
The results seem to be more accurate and the sound more natural with Deep Neural Network-powered language translation.
Artificial Intelligence is the fastest growing technology in the world with tech-bigwigs concentrating their efforts to develop human-like intelligence features. Artificial Intelligence is seen as next-generation technology to change the world we live in. It may change the way we make products. It may help us in many ways including language assistance.
