A 40-year-old man from Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested for killing a 26-year-old man who harassed his young daughter.
Melvin Harris, the man, is facing second-degree murder charges for beating Leon Armstrong to death after he attempted to break into the stall of the teenage girl at QuikTrip convenience store bathroom.
The police said Melvin was waiting for his daughter and her 2 friends in the parking lot of the convenience store when Armstrong approached his car asking for money.
Melvin reportedly gave him change, where Armstrong left and went inside the convenience store.
Soon after, the daughter of Harris and her friends came out of the store and said the man had harassed them.
Melvin went inside the store and demanded that the security should take action.
The police said Melvin also said he would take matters into his own hands if the guard wouldn’t take action.
As Melvin was leaving, witnesses saw the father approaching Armstrong.
The witnesses said Melvin punched Armstrong in the face, stomped him, and kicked him until he became unconscious.
The man later drove off.
After the brutal assault, Armstrong was rushed to a hospital with injuries such as brain swelling and a broken nose.
At first, Melvin was charged with aggravated assault, but when Armstrong died, the charges were upped to second-degree murder.
