Flipkart, one of the major ecommerce website sent a legal notice to one of the Hyderabad based blogger alleging that he has infringed on the company’s trademark and logo by using it to register a domain name and mislead users. Legal firm Srikrishna & Associates sent a notice to blogger Amit Bhawani on August 21, saying that the blogger had used Flipkart’s logo and trademark illegally and it could create confusion among clients.
Amit Bhawani, is an Indian technology writer who runs websites like PhoneRadar and Android Advices, he also registered a website with the URL amazonvsflipkart.com that hosts a survey about customer satisfaction poll comparing the various parameters of the products such as overall service, interface, products portfolio, discounts and deals, exclusives, and returns and replacement policy of Amazon India with Flipkart.
Flipkart Sends Legal Notice To Blogger
Flipkart has sent a cease and desist letter to Bhawani, alleging cyber squatting apart from copyright infringement. Bhawani was given a period of 7 days time to stop using the logo of Flipkart and to take out Flipkart name from the domain name of the website AmazonVsFlipkart.com

The legal notice from the most popular ecommerce Flipkart, says that “The use by any other entity of the trademark/service market ‘Flipkart’ or any deceptively similar variant thereof, apart from amounting to infringement of our clients registered trademark, would also amount to passing off.”
“He never received any communication from Flipkart in this regard prior to the legal notice. Instead of sending a legal notice, if they’d just sent a friendly mail, I would have taken it down,” said Amit Bhawani.
Earlier, the same thing happened with the Tatas with OkTataByeBye domain and even Zomato faced a similar consequences with eBay with its first brand name, i.e. Foodiebay.
