New Delhi: Social Media went trendy with the news of former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party senior member Atal Bihari Vajpayee death. The social media was filled with news of the death being circulated on WhatsApp and many other platforms on Thursday.

But amid this buzz, there were some people who attempted to find the truth behind the viral news, and found it to be a hoax one.  They countered the forwarding person by questioning the genuineness of the news. The reason why they did not believe the news was that there was no official clarification over the issue.

If anyone remembers, there were such false reports previously too. In the year 2015, a school professor in Balasore district in Odisha had claimed that Vajpayee was no more. Due to his rumors, a bereavement meeting was organized and the school was ordered to remain shut over the mortuary. When the district collector came to know that the news was false, the principal of the school was dismissed. In a real incident, while the former Prime Minister was addressing an audience in 2009, suffered a stroke and affected his speech. Vajpayee is reportedly suffering from dementia and diabetes and has to take support of a wheelchair to move. As of now, he remains an isolated personality, despite being remembered for his memorable speeches and awarded with Bharat Ratna.

The age of the former prime minister currently is 93 years and he was the 10th Prime Minister of India. He held the office first in 1996 and then from 1998 to 2004. He was a lawmaker for more than four decades. He was elected to the Lok Sabha ten times and for Rajya Sabha twice. He was the Member of Parliament until 2009 and thence he retired from active politics citing health reasons. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was among the founding members of the RSS- affiliated Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which was later restarted in 1980 as Bharatiya Janata party.
