As the latest Bollywood movie ‘Azhar’, which is a biopic on the life of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, is all set to release on 13th May. Hero Emraan Hashmi will be seen playing Azhar in the film. Thinking that the film shouldn’t raise any controversy after the release, the makers have avoided using the real names of the players but portrayed the characters of the cricketers in a way that you would definitely recognize.
Though the film isn’t released yet, some of the former cricketers are worried about what the movie would reveal about them, especially in the match-fixing scandal. They are in a fear that the movie would dig out the darkest days of their life. Here are the former cricketers who are really worried about the film ‘Azhar’.

Ravi Shastri:
During a sting operation, Ravi Shastri said that “Once, Azhar liked Pappu Butani’s wrist watch very much. He told Butani, ‘Your watch is very good.’ So Butani said, ‘It is very cheap.’Azhar asked ‘How much?’ Butani replied: ‘Somewhere between Rs 5 and 6 lakh.’ Azhar then went upstairs and brought down a bag containing six lakhs and bought that watch right away”
Manoj Prabhakar:
Manoj Prabhakar’s life was just like Azharuddin that has filled with a lot of controversies. Manoj had started his cricketing career in 1990 and played all his matches under the captaincy of Azharuddin. Even Manoj was among the cricketers whose names were involved in the Match-fixing scandal in 2000.
Kapil Dev:
Kapil Dev has played under the captaincy of Azharuddin for four years from 1990 to 1994. The shocking incident was that when the match-fixing scandal had come to light, Manoj Prabhakar mentioned the name of Kapil Dev. Later, Manoj couldn’t provide any evidence for his allegation.
Navjot Singh Sidhu:
While Team India was touring England at the time of Azharuddin captaincy, Navjot Singh Sidhu left the tournament in the middle and returned. But nobody knows the reason till date.
