Google Gives A Glimpse Of Its Plans For India During IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad Visit

New York: Indian IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was apprised about Google’s plans for enabling access across India and the empowerment of Indian users due to the role played by the technology during his meet with the company’s India-born CEO Sundar Pichai.

According to a statement issued by the Google, Mr. Prasad paid a visit to the headquarters of Google located in Mountain View, California yesterday.

Mr. Prasad got the opportunity to meet senior members of the leadership team at Google during the visit to the Google Campus for a meeting about the role technology can play to empower users in India and help address many challenges that are unique to India.

Among many things, Mr. Prasad was briefed about Google’s plans in India to enable access, Artificial Intelligence solutions and Indic language computing to deliver good to the society, building of startups and Small and Midsize business.

Mr. Prasad also got a chance to see cutting-edge innovations on the Google Campus along with an overview of upcoming features in popular Google products.

“Digital payments have played a pivotal role in India’s growth story and they are driving the digital revolution in India,” Mr. Prasad said, adding that companies like Google form an integral part of the Indian government’s continuous efforts to digitally empower India’s citizens.

At the meeting, Mr. Pichai said it was great opportunity to get the chance to discuss with the Indian leader of a country that is undergoing “exciting digital transformation that’s bringing lots of new opportunity to the region. It’s a privilege to be a part of it.”

Mr. Prasad also held discussions with CEOs and senior executives of leading technology and business companies including venture capitalists focused on the Indian market.

The meetings focused on discussions like the need to work collectively to be able to manage technology challenges in a better way like security issues and data privacy in particular for the range of new technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, as per the statement given by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM).

NASSCOM President Debjani Ghosh too expressed confidence about the digital transformation opportunities in India, as outlined by Mr. Prasad, “will open doors for investors to establish and participate in India’s rewarding growth story.

“With innovation and digitization at the heart of both the countries’ DNAs, we are sure that our synergies with the business community in California, will lead to a long and fruitful symbiotic relationship.”
