Here’s How Politicians Hailed ‘The Nightingale Of India’ Sarojini Naidu On The Eve Of Her Birth Anniversary

Sarojini Naidu is such a personality who doesn’t need any introduction when it comes to the great freedom fighters. So far she is the first liberal lady during the Independence period. Due, her services to the country, she is hailed as ‘The Nightingale of India’.

Leaders from across the country paid tributes to this inspirational personality. Coming to her political achievements, Naidu was the first woman governor in independent India and the second woman to become president of the Indian National Congress.

Despite being an eminent politician, she was known for her literary skills, earning which remained forever depicting her as the ‘Nightingale of India’. Nawab of Hyderabad used to praise Naidu Ji for her remarkable literary works.

Sarojini Naidu was part of the Round Table conference held in 1930 along with Mahatma Gandhi. Her efforts at acquiring freedom for the country had landed her in jail twice, first during the civil disobedience movement and then again during the quit India movement.

Post the independence, Naidu became the governor of then princely states Oudh and United Provinces of Agra. She further continued her poetry and prose writing.
