Recently BJP President Amit Shah gave a statement about unemployment saying that selling tea and pakods is better than being unemployed. In general, people who are selling tea tend to lend their lives. However, it might be a better idea to be a tea seller than being unemployed. Here is one such case that has seen epitome of success by selling tea.
We are now bringing up a real story of a man in Pune who started by a tea shop and gradually became a top tea seller in the city. He now has 2-3 branches all over the city and he is earning a whopping 12 lakhs per month as salary, which is like making more than a software employee in a MNC. He says selling tea is a way of creating employment in India and says that he is happy for what he is doing. He adds that it is his aim to make his tea as a brand.
This is the story of a Yewale Amrutalay, a tea stall owned by Dasharath Yewale, who started his career when he was 16 by selling milk to earn a living that eventually made his to start with a tea stall. Dasharath initially rented a shop in Pune’s Camp district to sell tea, and in the year 1983, he buys a shop in Salisbury Park. As he saw a growth in the business, Dasharath started selling snacks along with his trademark tea and opened outlets at Bharti Vidyapeeth in Dhankawdi and Appa Balwant Chowk in Pune.
Although Dasharath passed away in 2001, his son Navnath Yewale and his brother took up the responsibility to carry the tradition and they focused entirely on their father’s business. They started intensive research and development to figure out on capturing their market. A teahouse needs ingredients of 1,000kgs of sugar and 300kgs of tea powder in a month to sell the countless cups of tea across the branches.
This is what Navnath has to say about his business expansion. “We plan on opening 100 branches in the city and a few international outlets too. We should be able to employ more than 10,000 people in the next few years.” When asked about the international markets, he revealed Bangkok and Dubai are their initial targets. Mumbai, Satara, Nasik are on the domestic targets of Navnath.
