Hyderabad: This Secret Gachibowli Site Is ‘Rocking’

Home to a monolithic rock and many boulders, Fakruddingutta (near Manikonda), is a secluded place and not many people know about it. One has to take the uphill  kacha road to reach the place which has a water body on one side. The way is be completely deserted, though it is nearby Gachibowli.

Rock lovers from all over the city made their way to the rocky landscape of Fakruddingutta Hillock near, Khajaguda to take part in the Rockathon on Sunday morning. Organised by the Greater Hyderabad Adventure Club (GHAC) and Society to Save Rocks, the full-day event turned out to be a blockbuster as over 700 participants tried their hand at various adventure activities like rappelling, zip lining, bouldering and trail biking.

There was picnic-like vibe as families turned up with their kids in tow. It was quite a sight as children as young as six rubbed shoulders with people as old as 60 and explored the rock formations in the vicinity, many of which are millions of years old.

The surefooted tried their skill in Bouldering and Slack lining. And many participants also had a rendezvous with a few reptile thanks to the members of the Friends of Snakes. But there was more to the day than adventure.

Added to the mix were competitions like the Rock Quiz, Doodling and Rock Selfie which were enjoyed thoroughly by the participants. The treasure hunt got everyone hustling around the rocks to find clues. Huffing and puffing from the exertion, the participants regularly sipped on energy drinks and lemon juice to replenish their energy reserves as the sun started to beat down on them.
