Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami of Special Forces Commandos of the Indian Army sacrifices his life for the nation laying down an unparalleled history of valour and dedication to duty. Warrior of Indian Army Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami himself shot down 10 militants in mere just 11 days of battle with these trespassers of Pakistan nation.
The spokesperson of Defence Ministry D Goswami said, “A true soldier, he breathed his last in action’’ at the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur. Martyr Mohan Nath Goswami is survived by his wife and a seven-year-old daughter. He hails from Indira Nagar village in Haldwani tehsil of Nainital.
Being part of and volunteering may operational missions undertaken by his unit he was successful enough in counter-terrorist operations in the Jammu and Kashmir. He took part in three such operations in the recent times in which he eliminated 10 militants and appropriated one terrorist alive during past 11 days anti-terrorism operations.
Udhampur-based Defence Spokesman Colonel S D Goswami said Lance Naik Goswami volunteered to join the elite Para Commando outfit of the Army in 2002 and went on to gain the reputation of being one of the toughest soldiers of his unit and was accounted as “no small feat in an outfit that boasts of being one among the best in the world”.

It is reported that he killed three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba hailing from Pakistan were killed in Khurmur, Handwara on August 23 upon which he again volunteered a second back-to-back operation where he took down three more Lashkar terrorists and caught alive militant Sajjad Ahmad alias Abu Ubed Ullah on August 26-27 during the battle between armed forces and militants.
Defence Spokesman Colonel S D Goswami said, “The apprehension of a terrorist has proved to be a shot in the arm to prove Pakistan’s complicity in abetting terrorism in J&K. This proved to be his last operation but not before elimination of four terrorists in a heavy gunbattle.” He further added “The mortal remains of this brave heart commando have been flown by an IAF aircraft to his hometown in Bareilly. They will be taken by Army helicopter to Pant Nagar and onward to his native place where he will be cremated with full military honour”
