Proposed Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Terminal To Have Dandhi March Theme

New Delhi: The proposed high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai-Ahmedabad will have Sabarmati station as terminating station and that will on Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi March theme, according to a senior official.

The cost of the journey for the passengers boarding the bullet train from Sabarmati Station to Mumbai will be Rs. 3,000, he told reporters.

The train would be the first in the country in line Japan’s Bullet Train Speed and the design would be finalized by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd.

According to Mr Achal Khare who is the managing director of NHSRCL, the cost of building such a station would be approximately Rs. 250 crore.

According to the details provided by him, the station will have three-level parking that can accommodate about 1,500 vehicles. While one level will be set for cars, another will be for the bus, and the third is to be set for autos, thus ensuring seamless travel for passengers.

While passengers coming from two metro stations and other stations on the Indian Railway network can arrive at Sabarmati passenger terminal hub, they can move to Sabarmati Station via a foot-over-bridge which will connect the two buildings. The buildings are about 400 metres apart and can board the bullet train from there.

“It will be a state-of-art complex with Dandi March being the theme of the edifice,” Mr Khare said.

Roof-top solar panels will have a design that would resemble like a charkha, and the terminal will be connected with a 400-metre foot-over-bridge with the platforms.

The construction work for the proposed project is expected to start from December this year after the government acquires the required land, Mr Khare said.

The bullet train will run for a total distance of 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad at a top speed of 320 kmph.

The proposed bullet train will run approximately 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad at a top speed of 320 kmph. It will make 70 trips per day between Mumbai and Ahmedabad at an interval of 20 minutes, and each rake will have ten coaches.
