Great Honour: Israel Government Names ‘Chrysanthemum’ Flower After Narendra Modi

Do you guys know Chrysanthemum flower?

The Chrysanthemum flowers are native to Asia and Northeastern Europe. Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China. There are countless horticultural varieties and cultivars. The name “Chrysanthemum” is derived from the Ancient Greek word Chrysos (gold) and Ancient Greek Anthemon (flower).

Now coming to the matter, a fast-growing Isreali flower was today named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a special gesture to mark the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Israel. The Israeli Chrysanthemum flower, a colorful plant that grows fast will now be called after PM Modi, officials said.

“New fast-growing Israeli Chrysanthemum flower named in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be called “MODI“. Indeed, a #GrowingPartnership!,” the Israeli government said on its official Twitter handle.

Earlier, PM Modi visited the Danziger “Dan” Flower Farm along with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu in Mishmar Hashiva where they were briefed about the latest technologies being used for floriculture.

The Danziger flower farm is one of Israel’s leading floriculture companies with approximately 80,000 square meters of state-of-the-art greenhouses specializing in the reproduction of plants. The farm, founded in 1953, is located in Moshav Mishmar Hashiva, 56 kilometers from Jerusalem, in central Israel.

“Commemorating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, Danziger Flower Farm names the flower Chrysanthemum as ‘Modi.’, on the name of Prime Minister,” Press Information Bureau said.

His three-day visit to Israel is the first by an Indian Prime Minister to the Jewish nation. PM Modi was greeted by Benjamin Netanyahu along with the top tier of Israel’s leadership – known as Segel Aleph – an honor given to only a few leaders.
